The fee for most applicants is $595 AUD for Form 1300t (general eligibility). It already includes the citizenship test, and re-sitting the test does not cost extra.

The concession fee is only available with a valid, unexpired Pensioner Concession Card issued by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans' Affairs, where you are the primary cardholder or a dependant aged 17 or younger. Health Care Cards, Student Cards and Senior Health Cards cannot be used. Some Home Affairs pages still show older amounts; the fee list in Form 1298i is the one to rely on.
How to pay
You pay the fee when you lodge your application, usually online in ImmiAccount by card, PayPal, UnionPay or BPAY. Card payments carry a surcharge, for example 1.40% for Visa and MasterCard.
No extra cost for the test
The application fee includes the test. If you do not pass, Home Affairs books another appointment at no extra cost.
Other costs to budget for
- Travel to your test appointment and to the ceremony
- Translations of documents that are not in English
- An Australian passport after you become a citizen, which is a separate application
